LGLL Volunteer Request

Dear Lower Gwynedd Little League Families,

Volunteering makes our community stronger and is a great way to establish or rekindle friendships.

The newly-elected Board of Directors is working towards making the 2018 Season a memorable experience for all of the kids, and everyone that enjoys watching them play America’s Pastime.

With that said, we are looking to recruit as many volunteers as possible.  We need to do this now so that “all bases are covered” well in advance of the first pitch being thrown on Opening Day.

Each of the Board Member’s contact information is on the League’s website, so I would ask that you to contact the following individual if you have a specific interest in volunteering for:

  • Coach - contact Jacob Kim
  • Umpire - contact Eric Stonesifer
  • Umpire Committee - contact me, Ed Olszewski
  • Player Evaluations - contact Bob Zerweck
  • Opening Day Ceremony - contact Jen Federer
  • Website Design and Updates - contact Heather Franczyk
  • Fundraising - contact Chris Wilson
  • Fields/Grounds Committee - contact Shawn Burdick
  • Playing Equipment Committee – contact Chris Salvitti
  • Uniform Coordinator - contact me, Ed Olszewski
  • Volunteer Coordinator - contact Eric Drossner
  • Membership Committee - contact Jonathan Calpas
  • Snack Stand Inventory Procurement - contact Jerry Fairy

No commitment is too small, and if you’re nervous about getting involved - don’t be!

We need your help, and look forward to hearing from you before the mid-December Board Meeting.

Thanks for reading, and enjoy the rest of your weekend.

Ed Olszewski

LGLL President

Majors & Minors - New Bat Rules for 2018

To All Baseball players Age 9 through 12:

There are new 2018 bat rules and standards starting in January as defined by “USA Baseball”, the national governing body for baseball in the United States.  The standards are being adopted by all Little League & Cal Ripken programs.  We have added links at the bottom of this email for more information.

Lower Gwynedd Little League is required to implement this new rule for the upcoming season.  This rule effects ages 9 - 12; our Minors and Majors.  Therefore, these players must use new bats with a 2018 stamp on them. Your old bats will not be allowed in games this spring.

There are many types of bats on the market from many different companies. The Runaround, a local sporting goods store, has partnered with Lower Gwynedd Little League to offer Easton bats at a discount. The prices range from $60-$280. These prices are significant discounts to the retail stores. Bats will be available for pickup at the Penllyn Woods Community Building (behind Talus field) on Sat 12/16 and Sun 12/17 from 10am – 11am.

LGLL does not receive any payments for bats purchased. We are offering this sale as a benefit to our families.

The store is open now and will close December 5th.  If you have any questions, please feel free to email Eric Drossner at .

The link for the store can be found here: http://runaroundinc.tuosystems.com/stores/lgbat17

Happy Thanksgiving!
